About Our Restaurant

Sabai Sabai began with the dream of a little girl selling food on the streets of Thailand. That little girl was Jureerat. Dykins. She took her dream of wanting to own her business all the way to Wales where she arrived aged seven.

At Bradford University Business School, Juree carefully unpacked her dream into an idea for a restaurant bar where she would sit every evening, relaxing and drinking wine. After graduation, she set out to pursue this wonderful dream with Torquil Chidwick whom she’d met at university.

Relax & Chill

Although still only 21, their business plan pleased investors, the dream became reality and Sabai Sabai, meaning "relax and chill" opened its doors to the world.

Naturally, the "relax" part of the dream was quickly replaced by 6 days a week of hard graft. But the "chill" remained true for the customers.

Torquil’s brother Ciaran had joined front of house. Both brothers played in bands, taking their love of soul and jazz to Sabai Sabai where gradually, an identity as a restaurant offering fine Thai cuisine blended with funky beats, was created.

Mums The Word

Juree’s mum was the initial inspiration behind the menu, passing on to Juree the secrets and traditions of a long family line of island chefs bringing in a stream of satisfied customers.

Continued popularity enabled the young couple to turn the second instalment of their dream into reality with a swish and vibrant extension designed by Adam Tibbatts.

Sabai Sabai also produced an extension of a different sort with the arrival of baby Oliver.

Still in their twenties and still fully booked, the young couple began planning the third instalment of their dream with a brand new Sabai Sabai Harborne Restaurant. Due to be completed in time for Ollie’s first birthday party, they think the stunning design by award winning Adam Tibbatts will excite their customers as much as it does them.
