Sabai Sabai win Best Restaurant at Inaugural Birmingham Awards

Sabai Sabai win Best Restaurant at inaugural Birmingham Awards

We’re over the moon to announce that we won the award for Best Restaurant at the first ever Birmingham Awards. Held on Friday 27th November, 2015 at the highly prestigious Edgbaston Cricket Ground; the who’s who of the industry came out in force to celebrate the best of Brum.

With champagne flowing and a live house band throughout the night, the Birmingham Awards sponsored by local charity, Love Brum and in association with Big Johns, was a glamorous affair.

The evening was hosted by local radio presenter Dan Kelly and Raaj Shamji. The proud ‘Brummies’ praised the diverse achievements of Birmingham throughout the night, from having the most youthful population in Europe, to more canals than Venice.

Special guests included the likes of BBC’s The Apprentice candidates Gary Poulton and David Stephenson, presenters Sunny and Shay, and Sir “Doug” Ellis accepted the Lifetime Achievement Award and spoke about his incredible career as an entrepreneur and former chairman of Aston Villa FC. Sabai Sabai to feature on new BBC show ‘Len and Ainsley’s Big Food Adventure’

Celebrity TV chef Ainsley Harriot, best known for presenting cooking shows such as Can’t Cook, Won’t Cook and Ready Steady Cook and Strictly Come Dancing Head Judge Len Goodman, visited Sabai Sabai a few months ago to film for their new BBC show.
The series  features Ainsley and Len visiting cities across the country and dining at fabulous restaurants lauded for their international cuisine. Juree and Torquil were interviewed about their passion for Thai food and culture and how they built up the Sabai Sabai restaurant group. Ainsley throughly enjoyed his time in the kitchen watching the Thai chefs do what they love and they both enjoyed trying some great dishes such as the garlic and pepper Sea Bass. See the action go down by tuning in…

thai curry

Here at Sabai Sabai we offer a range of tasty Thai curries, our most popular being the Thai Green Curry (or Geng Kiew Wan). To celebrate National Curry Week we are offering a complimentary Singha beer when you order a Thai Green Curry on Monday 12th or Tuesday 13th October.

You can choose from a chicken, beef or prawn Thai Green Curry; All cooked with an aromatic blend of coconut milk, bamboo shoots, aubergine, green beans & Thai sweet basil.

If that doesn’t tickle your fancy, why not try the Geng Massaman, a traditional dish from southern Thailand in a spiced, rich & sweet peanut sauce with coconut milk, potatoes, onions & flavoured with tamarind sauce. With a choice of Chicken, Beef, Prawns, Duck or lamb.

Everybody loved the Sunshine at the Mostly Jazz Funk and Soul Festival

Our stall was visited by many musical legends at the Mostly Jazz festival.

Roy Ayers, Public Enemy, Delta Autumn, Gregory Porter, Hackney Colliery Band and The Mouse Outfit all tucked in to our tasty Thai dishes whilst jamming  along to the marvelous music in Moseley park.

The success of the event has made us even more excited for Independent Food Fair that is coming up this September.

Our New Spring Menu

Our Chef Team have been really busy perfecting some great dishes for our new Spring Menu. We’ll just mention a few to tantalise your tastebuds.

Our Lamb Chops now come char-grilled, in a sweet potato, onions and massaman sauce. We have a spicy shredded Duck Larb. Our chunky Jumbo Prawns are delicately spiced with turmeric, coconut milk and lemongrass.

For fish lovers we have chunky Monk Fish in Choo chee, baby leaf spinach and grilled sweet peppers. Finally, our old favourite is back the spicy ‘weeping tiger’ Rib Eye steak
